The Eastern Archives of the SFH&MS holds a system set of building records covering all of the four regions of the Santa Fe as organized in the early 1960's. These records list structures owned by the Santa Fe Railroad with details of Foundation tyoe size of structure, Material, roof, stories, rooms when erected, condition, and some times a sketch of foundation.
The records vary in historical completeness by region and time due to varying methods of updating the record. At times when facilities were retired the pages involved were removed from the record and lost to history. At other times they were simply marked as retired and left as part of the record. For the old New Mexico Division we have in the archive two eras of building records when last updated in 1915 and the more current one last updatd before replaced by the computer in 1982.
The detail of the record varies by region of the company with the coast lines providing sketches of some foundations while the other regions provided only lists of structures. All pages are letter size.
Researchers, modelers etc. may view these records by advanced appointment. Copies of individual station pages can be ordered for Fifty cents a page Minimum order $10, (20 pages) plus $5.00 postage and handling, make checks out to Russell Crump.
