WHERE THE A.T.&.S.F. WAS ORGANIZED

In this little building, located on North Second Street, Atchison, Kansas in 1860, the company was organized for the building of the Santa Fe. About six years ago it was razed.

On September 15th and 17th, 1860 (Sunday intervening) the Santa Fe was organized in this little office of Luther C. Challis, Atchison, Kansas and Col. C. K. Holliday was duly elected President, Peter T. Abell, Secretary and M. C. Dickey, Treasurer. (see leter from Col. C. K. Holliday published in the Santa Fe Magazine, January number 1915)
