Grading started in the Spring of 1875. Track reached La Junta, February 16th, 1876. Pueblo February 29th, 1876. Carlisle, Orman & Cook and others were the Contractors.
A. A. Robinson, Chief Engineer. H. R. Holbrook, Geo. B. Lake and Jas. D. Burr, Locating Engineers, Dick Coleman, Track Engineer. C. F. Morse, General Superintendent. W.H. Pettiborne, Division Superintendent. Mr. Pettiborne was succeeded on the Colorado Division by Mr. Geo. B. Lake, June 1st, 1876.
Telegraph line reached Pueblo with the track.
