RESERVOIRS

(Eastern Kansas)

"At Edgerton, the Santa Fe have four separate reservoirs, total capacity 33-million gallons. Total drainage area 13 square miles. Three of them are over the same stream, Bull Creek. All concrete.

"The water is let to each other by a flood gate, the lower one taking all of the water, the other one is an earth pond against the Santa Fe dump. They were all built at different times, 1899 to 1907.

"At Osage City, we built a timber dam across Salt Creek in 1885. About one mile west of the depot, North side of the track, 36 square miles of drainage area, capacity unlimited. We treat this water. Supply ok.
