First District Dodge City to Syracuse Continued

Second Track

Soul Ditch

The Soul Ditch originates on the south side of our track at the Arkansas River, about three-fourths of a mile west of our station Engle, on the Arkansas River Division, and extends in an easterly direction crossing to the north side of our track about one-half mile east of Engle Station; thence east of the north of Dodge City, about two miles north of our track at that point; thence easterly crossing to the south of our track about four miles east of Dodge City, thence easterly on the south side of our track to appoint one-half mile south of our station of Wright. Ditch not used.

The Construction on ditch was commenced about 1882 by a man named Soul, manufacture of Hostetter bitters. Mr. Soul failed and the ditch is now controlled by an English Syndicate, Gilbert Brothers being their representative.
