Railway Company has built a combination freight and passenger brick depot, Contractor, A. McLeod of Chicago. This depot was built during the fall and spring of 1911 and 1912. F.M. Stark, Inspector.
Incorporated in Colorado, January 17th, 1906. Sold March 16th, 1907 to the Santa Fe.
In the years 1906, 1907 and 1908 railroads were projected and built between Holly and Swink. Shelton Junction and Rocky Ford on the north side of the Arkansas River, in Colorado. There were connections built across the Arkansas River at Lamar and Las Animas to connect with the line between Holly and Swink. Also spurs built north from Kornman to May Valley and from Wiley to Big Bend. Spur was built from Newdale on the Colorado Division to Hawley. These roads were projected and practically built by the American Beet Sugar Company and the Holly Sugar Company. Mr. Joseph Weidel located most of the line between Holly and Swink for the Holly Sugar Company and C.M. Ward located and constructed line east from Rocky Ford to Buchtel for the American Beet Sugar company. Mr. W.E. Hulse was Chief Engineer on Construction for the Holly Sugar Company. On March 16th, 1907, the Santa Fe Railway Company bought out the railroad interests of The American Beet Sugar Company and the Holly Sugar Company and completed the railroads with C.M. Ward as Chief Engineer. Before the Santa Fe Railway bought out the Sugar Company's interests they were both trying to build roads to same territory. G.W. Hartman, an old Santa Fe man, was General Superintendent in charge of Track, for Holly Sugar Company, with headquarters at Holly. Mr. Hartman died of Ptomaine poisoning at Holly in October, 1906.
What grading the American Beet Sugar Company did between Rocky Ford and Buchtell was done by force account. All the rest of the grading for construction was done by Thomas Mishou and W.S. Whitescarver. The Holly Sugar Company built the sugar plants at Holly and Swink. The plant at Holly was abandoned and torn down early in 1915 and moved to Sheridan Wyoming.
On the line between Rocky Ford and Shelton Junction, on August 1st, 1910 a portion of Bridge #92-E across the Arkansas River washed out. In 1915 there was 3.5 miles of this line taken up, from just west of Fenton to within a short distance of Rocky Ford.

Dear Sir:
I have yours of the 30th. Will say in reply that the firm of Mishou & Whitescarver built the line east from Swink, about 20 miles and line west from Holly, about the same distance. This was done for the Holly & Swink Sugar Factory Company. After that The A.T.&.S.F.Ry.CO. took over this line and the firm of Mishou & Company built the break in the center, approximately 56 miles, for Mr. Storey, who at that time was Chief Engineer at Topeka. Any further service I can be to you, will gladly do.
Yours truly, (Signed) Thos.Mishou, Pueblo.
