Col. C. K. Holliday

The first President of the Santa Fe, elected September 17th, 1880. Justly called the Father of the Santa Fe.

It was Col. Holliday who projected this great undertaking. Many stories are told of his speeches, but all reports are practically united to the great optisim, which he always expressed. He was a dignified scholarly man. His fame will be perpetuated in the fact that he was the father of the Santa Fe Railway System. He was born at Kidderminster, Pennsylvania, April 3rd, 1826. Died in Topeka, March 29th, 1900. See Santa Fe Magazine, December issue, 1914 for an interesting sketch of his life, also same article for January 1915.
