Edward Wilder, one of the early pioneers and strong men of the Road, began service with the Company on August 1st, 1871, as Assistant Treasurer, succeeding C. P. Rice. Made Treasurer May 12th, 1876, succeeding Chars. W. Pierce. Died in Topeka, December 2?th, 1905.
Mr. Wilder was closely identified with all of the important agencies which resulted in the development of Kansas into one of the greatest states of the Union and was an important factor in the building and management of the great Santa Fe and its mighty interests, and was one of Topeka's most honored and valued citizens.
Mr. Wilder's interest and connection with the Santa Fe Road began in its early history and organization. He was concerned with all of the early management and much credit is due him for the financial standing and general prosperity of the Road. His death brought a personal loss to the Company. His friends knew that his judgement was unerring and that he was a man, wise in council, generous and fair in spirit, a man of unimpeachable honesty.
