AT&SF 2-8-2 steam engine sunk into roadbed on May 27, 1957. This train was headed from Guthrie, OK., to Ripley, OK., on the first line built by the eastern Oklahoma Ry, Co. in 1899. This engine might have been the last AT&SF steamer to run in non-helper service on the Santa Fe Oklahoma lines. The line was embargoed the next day by train order. The great flood of 1957 by the Cimarron River wrecked the Ripley bridge and finalized abandonment of this line. David Sasser collection.
