Spring 1987 Number 1. It was written by Constance Libby Menninger and is
reprinted here with her permission and the permission of the Kansas State
Historical Society.
Constance Libby Menninger presented this article at the Kansas City Mini Meet
on November 15, 1997.
The article as it appeared in Kansas History is 23 pages along with
another 4 pages contained photos and drawings. In order to modify it to
