FT 140C with an A-B-B-B-A lashup growls (quite literally) past the Spearville depot with a freight on the author's layout. The set of old Hallmark imports has been in service on his layout longer than some of the prototype were in use on the Santa Fe! Wrecking lugs, grab irons, radio antenna and a mid-1950's chrome yellow paint job has been added to these models to depict the final appearance of the 100-class locomotives.
This old Hallmark Ft-A had foot boards added in the front and rear and a surplus steam locomotive style headlight added to the roof. The 405 was one of a number of FT's set up for switcher service that wore the experimental solid blue paint scheme at one time in their careers.
