Citizens of Guthrie protest starting line to Kingfisher from Seward.

Oklahoma Railroad Construction.

Chicago, Otober 23rd, 1899.

Mr. James Dun
Chief Engineer
Topeka, Kansas.

Dear Sir:

I had a call today from a Committee of the citizens of Guthrie for the purpose of
protesting against having the Kingfisher-Guthrie line strike our main line at Seward, as is now contemplated by the surveys made under the auspices of the CRI&P people. They fear that Seward would be made more or less a competitor of Guthrie, and they also fear that some day the CRI&P might continue southeast form Seward, (which does not seem to me to be likely): but, in any case, I see no particular reason why we should go so far south, and, everything being equal, I think it would be well to swing the eastern end further to the north, striking our main line neared Guthrie.

Yours truly,

(sgd) E. P. Ripley.
