Selections From The Splinters

Guthrie, Oklahoma, Jan 8, 1900.

Mr. James Dun, Chief Engineer,
Topeka, Kansas.

Dear Sir:

I hand you herewith the following estimates for work done in December 1899:

For A Moore, Newton, Kansas; Miles 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8, amounting to $499.05.

For Shutt Improvement Co., of Pueblo, sections 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16,
amounting to $2,743.20.

For Sparr & Stubb, of Lawrence, Kansas, sections 17, 18, 19, and 20, amounting
to $1686.02.

For Ware and Maney, Guthrie, Oklahoma, sections 25 and 26, amounting to
nothing.

For the W R Stubbs Construction Co., for miles 27 and 29, amounting to nothing.

For Ware & Maney, Guthrie, Oklahoma, for miles 30 and 31, amounting to
$3,579.30.

For Shutt Improvement Co., for Mile 35, amounting to $945.00.

For A Moore for Miles 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, and 46, amounting to
$8,198.10.

For Ware & Maney, Guthrie, Oklahoma, section 59 amounting to $1,080.00.

You will note that three of the above estimates, call for no money, the situation
being that the work is done, and I am waiting to have certain little matters along the right of way cleared up before making final estimate on these contracts. I thought, however, best to make the estimate for this month.

The estimates for Miles 28, 32, 33, and 34, I will send you in a day or two, as soon
as I can get the data. I also send you final estimate for A Moore, of Newton, for Miles 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8, amounting to $2,245.16.

This is in response of your request that this estimate be hurried. There are two or
three places on this work where the right of way in the Borrow pits has been exceeded, and I was holding this, pending some dispositions of these claims.

Mr. Moore, however, says that he will do anything that is proper in the matter, and
if you think best to issue him his final and either hold his bond of trust to his making satisfactory arrangements about this excess of Borrow pit I will be glad to have you do so, please, however, advise me what action you take in the matter.

Yours truly,

(Sgd.) H C Phillips

Resident Engineer.

Encl-e.
