Acceptance of Eastern Oklahoma by Operating Department to Stillwater.

Guthrie, Oklahoma, June 1, 1900.

Mr. James Dun,
Chief Engineer,
Topeka, Kans.

Dear Sir:--

Referring to yours of May 30th and your message of the same date-Mr. Bailey has accepted charge of the Track and Train departments on the E. O. Ry. As far as and including the pump at Stillwater. He has requested me to retain charge of the rip rapping, and I have said that I would do so, provided he assumed the responsibility for the train. This will at most last only a short time longer. I will advise him as you direct, that I am prepared to do any engineering work required between Guthrie & Stillwater until further notice. I will also arrange to complete the bridges, channel excavation, water stations and buildings; turning over completed buildings and water stations to Mr. Bailey as fast as finished. I note that you think best, and I agree with you that the pumpers and pump repairs between Guthrie and Stillwater should be paid by the operating department. The matter of removal of temporary stations, however, I will arrange to carry on my rolls as it is legitimately a construction charge. As you direct, as soon as track is laid into Pawnee and the yard is laid I will organize a gang for surfacing, and move the tracklaying forces to the Guthrie & Western.

Yours truly,

(Sgd) H. C. Phillips

Resident Engineer.
