Mr. James Dun,
Chief Engineer,
Topeka, Kans.
Dear Sir:
I beg to report the following condition of affairs on the Eastern Oklahoma Railway:
Surfacing, to be done, about ten miles, between Glencoe and Pawnee. Have started grading industrial track at Glencoe, and to-day laying the stock yards spur and extension at Stillwater.
Bridges being driven and piles driven for iron bridges. Span bridges at the Cimarron river as follows: First and Second span from Ripley complete. Third span bottom chord laid. Fourth and Fifth spans piers only prepared. Lower crossing of the Stillwater lower chord of bridge laid and top false work erected. Upper crossing of the Stillwater, Howe Truss complete.
Station at Pawnee three-fourths done.
Condemnation proceedings for Lake land at Pawnee said to be successfully arranged for. Dam at Yost progressing slowly: twelve teams at work; very small layers being used and the material thoroughly packed.
Surfacing between Pawnee and Glencoe progressing.
Accident: On the morning of the 29th a bridge auger fell from the top false work of bridge #55. Stillwater creek, striking Micharl Knight upon the head. The man was in very poor physical condition, but seems resting easily and will be forwarded to his home, Ft. Madison, Iowa, to-morrow, in care of some other bridge men, who are returning there.
Well at Pawnee, three feet of stone laid÷commencing to sink well circle in wet ground.
Yours truly,
H C Phillip Resident Engineer.
