Mr. W. B. Storey, Jr., Chief Engineer, Topeka, Kansas.
Dear Sir:
In order to relieve Mr. Phillips on the Eastern Oklahoma I would be obliged if you will issue instructions to Mr. W H Earl, Resident Engineer Middle and Oklahoma Divisions to take charge of any engineering work that may be required on the E. O. on and after September 15th, arranging that he or his assistant, Mr McCoy, can meet Mr Phillips at Guthrie at that time and go over the line and become familiar with the work required. There are a number of condemnation suits pending that will require the preparation of a number of maps wanted by our attorneys. There will also be centers and grades wanted when the iron bridges are put in sometime in October.
We also have quite a large amount of material stored at Perkins and it will be necessary to employ someone to look after it. Mr Phillips has a good man there now. I would like this man carried on Mr Earlās roll, but make out bill monthly for his services charging E. O. Ry. Construction account Engineering. We also have a large amount of material stored at Arkansas City. In case this is not wanted in Texas, of which I will advise you in a few days, I would like to have this material loaded and placed upon our right of way at Perkins. Part of the material we now have stored at Perkins is on leased land. Unless Mr Phillips is able to renew this lease all material should be removed from the leased land and put on right of way or station grounds owned by the company.
Yours truly,
(James Dun)
Chief Engineer
