Selections From The Splinters

September 15, 1900

Mr. E.P. Ripley, Prisident,
J. M. Barr, Third V.P.,
H. U. Mudge, Genl. Manager,

Dear Sirs:--

Herewith please find progress report of construction on the Eastern Oklahoma and the Guthrie & Western Railways, under date of September 15.

GRADING: All completed, except channels under bridges.

TRESTLE BRIDGES: Completed

HOWE TRUSS BRIDGES: All complete except one for which iron not yet received. Two spans at Cimarron river painted.

STEEL GIRDER BRIDGES: Delivered on ground, and to be placed by bridge gang during October. Piers for these girders are yet to be completed between Ripley and Guthrie. Piles for them having been driven, but the framing not being complete.

BUILDINGS: Completed, except Yost pump house. Cotton platforms have been completed at Ripley, Perkins, Coyles; leaving only Stillwater to complete the list

WATER SERVICE: Well at Pawnee showing signs of complete failure. Think it probable that pipe line will have to be run to the Black Bear creek, a distance of six hundred feet to make water supply sue at this point.

TRACK: Industrial tracks at Stillwater completed and at Ripley almost completed. Leaving industrial track at Coyle, and Pawnee yard to complet all track work.

GENERAL: On Monday night, the 10th, steam track pile driver #99709 together with a full crew and ample tools and two head lights for night work was shipped to the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe for emergency use in the Galveston disaster. This

gang was being used to pick up material and finish bridges. On the 14th instant two additional bridge gangs with all tools and bunk cars were forwarded to Virginia Point; in addition to which we shipped some 560 stringers and two car loads of bridge hardware. The gang working on side tracks was used to load this material and therefore made little progress at Ripley.

Guthrie & Western Ry.

GRADING: Completed.

TRESTLE BRIDGES: Completed.

STEEL GIRDER BRIDGES: One to be erected.

BUILDINGS: Completed.

TRACK: Completed.

Yours truly

(James Dun)
