Keokuk, Iowa, Aug. 31,, 1886
B. F. Booker, Esq.,
Chief Engineer,
Keokuk, Iowa.
Dear Sir:
The county through which the location runs is supplied with one railroad, which is not far enough away to be out of the question of traffic, but our line will get its share, and probably more. In running this location I took the north side of Cheeney Creek and crossed Crooked Creek, 2 miles and a half north of the preliminary. By doing this and puktting a tangent between these points I have got a smoother line and saved distance.
On this line there is an abundance of stone and of very good quality.
ON the preliminary there is no stone.
The line if built will tap a section of the country where they haul produce 10 to 15 miles. Coming in as it goes west of Monica, it gets all the traffic from the large region west of the place. It will divide the traffic with the "Q" at Wyoming and intercept that east of Bradford.
The preliminary is run from Millbrook Tp to an intersection with the Buda Branch of the "Q" and parallels it, crossing it between Mud and Camping Runs and continuing to parallel it between Mud and Camping Runs and continuing to parallel it to near Bradford where it leaves the "Q" and bears off for Milo. It seems that owing to the numerous ridges in that country that it is impossible to cross them any other way than to parallel the "Q".
I leave this p.M. for Kansas by way of Decator, Illinois, where I shall spend a few days.
Yours respectfully
(Signed) A.S. Robinson
